These two new songs are a bit of a departure from my other Rumi Music songs. I copied Rumi poems from the Internet, and pasted it into ModelTalker. ModelTalkeris a voice banking software program that people like me who are going to lose their ability to speak can train the program how to speak whatever I type in a voice that sounds like the way I speak today. It is a bit robotic sounding, but intelligible. I made audio clips of ModelTalker reading the poems with Audio Hijack Pro. Then I dropped it into Logic Pro, my Digital Audio Workstation. I used the sample clear so you can hear it, and used it as the side chain of a vocoder, which "sings" the poems, which is nice, because I can't sing myself anymore, as I only move 30% of the air a healthy person my size can move.

Why Lee Abramson Is Happy
Why Lee Abramson Is Happy
At low points in Abramson's emotional life, caused by a mood disorder which is well managed but never completely dominated, he has written "I will die alone, in agony and despair, and will deserve to." But three things have happened this week that will make him never feel that way again.
First, Abramson downloaded the official State of Michigan advance directive form, and painstakingly entered the names, addresses and phone numbers of his primary and secondary heath care advocates, his own data, and got the signature of everyone including witnesses, and used his signature stamp to finalize the document. Then he scanned and uploaded the document to http://leeabramson.com/ and embedded a YouTube video summarizing his wishes concerning hospice care. He got a custom-engraved medical alert bracelet with the URL & DNR on it. He visited his doctor who put his mind at ease that he would feel no pain and that his wishes not to be resuscitated would be honored, ending weeks of obsession over the issue. He no longer wears the bracelet.
Second, Abramson applied something he learned from the Rumi Music Twitter Strategy: The strategy starts by following everybody who tweets a Rumi quote. Abramson has noticed that about half of those tweets are made by New Age hustlers: Crystal healers, aromatherapists, life coaches, Law of Attraction practitioners and the like. Not entirely, but for the most part, the ones with with the most integrity and the most to offer are Reiki instructors. Abramson is much more of a Thinking than Feeling personality, and is very skeptical of spiritualism and things like energy fields, but he read a lot about the benefits of meditation in the management of symptoms of ALS, particularly muscle pain and air hunger. So he found a local meditation teacher who had a Reiki background. On his first meeting with her, they discussed some pre-meditation techniques for slowing down the mind, some of which he had been using, like staring at a candle, or counting to 18 one hundred times with his eyes closed, then opening his eyes to see how close he was to letting exactly 30 minutes pass by. She also recommended listening to inspiring music, creating and releasing muscle tension, and reciting Psalm 23 while focusing on the Chacras. Abramson created a pdf with 3 columns and 6 rows and filled it with Psalm 23 in English, Hebrew and transliteration. He practices every day. His second meeting with the instructor, Abramson expressed curiosity about the Reiki practice. She explained how it dealt with harmonizing the body's energy fields. When she put her hand over Abramson's knee, he felt her healing power, and knew right away that she would bring his soul into harmony, help him come to terms with his regrets, and keep him from dying in despair.
Finally, his girlfriend made a sincere pledge that she would be there holding his hand at the end.
